Welcome to my website. I thought I would let you know a little more about me here.

Personal Background

I was born , raised, and am a lifelong Rhode Islander. Graduated from Boston College in 1984 and after 10 years in sales and management I  went back to school and to get my law degree from Roger Williams School of Law in 1997 and am a licensed attorney. My wife Suzanne and I moved to North Kingstown in 1998 to raise our family and we had three children go through the NK school system with our youngest graduating in 2018.

 Professional Resume

Since 1997, I have been a practicing attorney. Currently, I am the executive director/general counsel of BuildRI, a trade association that represents the union construction industry. In capacity as the organization’s legal counsel, I drafted labor agreements for one hundred and two (102) commercial and industry construction projects, including writing the first two (2) off shore wind farm all union project labor agreements (outside of 2 projects in Quonset, none of these projects are in NK). As part of my professional responsibilities, I am also part of the Climate Jobs coalition that focuses on a just transition to a pro worker green economy.  In addition, I do legal work at the law firm of Sinapi Law Associates and am a special education judicial hearing officer for the state of Rhode Island.

 Volunteer Work

I am chairman of the board for Building Futures, a non-profit devoted to serving low-income diverse members of the Rhode Island community. Previously, I was legal counsel for the Station Memorial Foundation and served on its leadership committee (2013-18), a director of the Community College of Rhode Island Foundation (2012-2016), a director for Cove Homes, Inc., a non-profit affordable housing corporation (2016-18), and a board member for the Parent Federation of Catholic Schools (2006-07).

Community Involvement

Locally, when my kids were young I coached them at hockey, baseball, and soccer; was the treasurer of the Congdon Woods Homeowners’ Ass’n (2005-10), founded North Hockey in 2013 and am its current legal counsel, was a member of our town Steering( 2015-16) and Compensation (2017) Committees, and was a member of the Quonset Development Corporation board of directors (2014-22).

 Public Service

Seeing that our town had multiple public building vacant for unacceptable periods of time as well as the fact that our schools were not being properly funded, I decided to run for town council in 2018.

I campaigned by going door-to-door to every household in our community that voted in the previous election to hear our community’s concerns, and consequently I was elected to the town council in my first attempt at local public office. Once on the council my council peers elected me president.

As council president, I have tried to run a fair meeting and let everyone speak their mind at town council meetings so our council can understand the sentiments of our community before making decisions that impact our town. As a town councilor, I always voted in what I thought is in the best interests of our community.

In 2020 I ran for re-election. And, despite not being endorsed by the NK town Democratic Party, I was once again elected, and once again my peers on the council elected me president. And again, I tried to run a fair and balanced meet and always voted my conscious.

I am sincerely humbled by the support NK voters and my fellow council members showed in me as an elected official. Participating in our democracy to try to improve the quality of life for our community over these past (4) years has been a once in lifetime experience. I have met a majority of the citizens in our community that vote, encouraged students to get involved in our democracy, developed numerous new friendships, and did my best to make a positive contribution to our community. I hope you agree. If so, please consider voting for me in 2022.
